What Are Your Indexing Strategies?

A couple weeks ago, I got some pretty great new.  The book proposal that I had submitted to Apress was accepted.  Over the next few months, I’ll be working on a book with a focus on indexing.

As part of this, I want to find out your indexing strategies?  It’s not that I don’t have a list already, some of the items I plan to cover are:

  • Clustering choices
  • Covering indexes
  • Including columns
  • Indexing foreign keys

These are just a few of the strategies for indexing, but there are more.  So I’d like to know your strategies.  Knowing I don’t know everything, what do you do that you would want to see mentioned?
